After a disaster it’s hard to know where to begin so it’s natural to feel overwhelmed. Here are some pointers and resources that will help as you work on addressing the damage.
First, don’t try to take on everything at once. Begin by surveying the damage and making a plan.
After you have made a plan, it’s time to get organized.
Then start to catalogue and report damage.
And as it becomes safe to do so, work on clean-up and salvage.
Finally, community is incredibly important as you recover. We’re not the only ones who are here for you- CERF+ supporters who have been through natural disasters before have been letting us know that they’re available for victims of Sandy who just need to talk to someone who understands what they’re going through. If you would like us to connect you with a disaster buddy, email us.
